I am an applied economist in Mannheim, Germany, holding joint appointments at the University of Mannheim, Department of Economics and the ZEW - Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research. I am also a member of the board of the Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation (MaCCI), a member of the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center Transregio 224 - EPoS, and a member of the steering group of the Competition Law and Economics European Network (CLEEN).
My research interests lie in industrial organization and the economic analysis of law. I use theoretical and empirical tools to address questions related to innovation, competition, privacy, and contracts. I study how laws, regulators, and markets affect firms' incentives to invest in research and development, disclose their inventions to the public, and how these institutions and their role in R\&D drive individuals' and firms' incentives to participate in and contribute to technology standardization. I have published in the American Economic Journal: Microeconomics, RAND Journal of Economics, Research Policy, and the Journal of Law, Economics, and Organization, among others.
For more on my research interests and output, including a list of current projects, see the Research tab.
If you are interested in what we are doing in my research group Competition and Innovation at the ZEW Mannheim, check out our group website.
